Ten Terrific Tips For Using Lawn And Garden Décor, part 2

March 27th, 2009 · No Comments ·

6. Plant space is more important than décor space. The welfare of your plants should be prioritized. They are the reason for your garden. Their safety and optimal living conditions should not be compromised for aesthetic reasons.

7. Simplicity is in. A lot of gardens nowadays go for the minimalist approach. After all, many people believe that to fully savor your garden, you should be able to walk around it. Try creating pathways using pebbles, rock and slabs. The combination can be very elegant while being simple (and inexpensive) at the same time.

8. Lawn and garden décor should jive with the plants, not the other way around. There are decorations that may prove unhealthy for certain types of plants. Wooden decors, for example, can be infested by pests that would feed on growing crops. Birdhouses and birdbaths will attract avian creatures that may ruin some annuals.

9. The decors and the plants should complement the house. Often, the mistake of many landscape artists is that they take the house out of the picture whenever they design gardens. This shouldn’t be the case. Gardens aren’t isolated areas. They remain as a part of the home.

10. Flexibility is key. Lawn and garden décor should not crowd the garden space. Remember, there will be occasions when you’ll need the area for the entertainment of your guests.
